It is very clear that we as people are often harming and destroying one another as this verse says. We destroy one another in our homes with our words and we destroy one another with our anger and slander wherever other people are in the equation. Your help in all of your conflict does not come from a good example, a list of instructions, or even a better situation but it comes from the very presence of God! Christian, what is this about and what is this constant battle we have with others to point us to? We see here that our ability to live in peace with one another to the glory of God comes on God ’s holy mountain, that is to say the place where God is dwelling. In scripture God ’s holy mountain is simply a term used to speak of where God dwells. Consider this believer, peace in life does not come from a philosophy or set of rules but from intimacy with God! Your help in all of your conflict does not come from a good example, a list of instructions, or even a better situation but it comes from the very presence of God! What we need most as people is to exist in nearness to God and if you are in Christ you are already near to God. God is the only holy, the only good, the only lovely person and so it is that if we are going to live at peace with others we need to realize that this can only occur when God lives His own life through us through His Holy Spirit making us His dwelling place.

The great story of the bible is that God has redeemed sinners all of grace by the works of His beloved Son. It is because of this big picture that we are given this command in the proverb. If Jesus died for the helpless and hopeless—who could in themselves do nothing to help themselves—then this reality becomes the theme song of our life.

We often times look at what is said in verse three but forget the reason for verse three which follows. We all know that God is to be worshipped and celebrated in a way which is visible but do we know why? You may say, "We do because He is worthy of it."

What is prayer? Is it merely a place where we can depend upon God for things that we need? It seems that we see something here which is most amazing about prayer. And that is, we are assured that God will give us things that we ask in the name of Jesus.

It is a clear teaching in the word of God that the Branch is none other than Christ. It speaks of Christ’s humble coming to the world as a man to save sinful men, not only as a man but as a man who had no external beauty or earthly glory about Him, a man of sorrows and a man acquainted with grief.
